Personal Information

Hola! My name is Jack Morris, and I have had the great opportunity to work as an Auxiliar de Conversación in the community of Madrid for the 2018-2019 school year.

I was born and raised in Carmel, Indiana, a large suburb just north of Indianapolis.  I attended Carmel High School, and after graduation I moved to Bloomington, a town in southern Indiana and the home of Indiana University.  I attended Indiana University from the fall of 2014 until the spring of 2018, when I graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science as well as a Spanish minor.

I have always been interested in languages, and this is the reason that I decided to study Spanish in college.  There are many people in the United States that have no desire to learn about other languages and cultures of the world, and to me this is an incredibly sad fact.  I think it is extremely important to be aware of the great variety of languages and lifestyles of the people of this world, and this is one of the reasons that I wanted to move to Spain, so I could experience a different way of living and a new perspective on the world.  Additionally, I have found a love of teaching from many of my experiences in college, and this was another driving factor in my decision to come teach in Spain.  The Auxiliar program has presented me with the perfect opportunity to experience a new culture for myself, share my culture and language with others, and continue doing something that I love, which is teaching.
